Role Description
This work is done under close supervision and requires significant typing as well as focused efforts to create digital files by gathering relevant information from police personnel and civilians through phone conversations. The accuracy of the work and the speed of information processing are closely evaluated. The employee operates word processing equipment to create computerized police reports using a computer-aided report entry system. They input uniform crime statistic codes into the computer system for statistical tracking and ensure comprehensive details are gathered from police officers and crime victims in accordance with established protocols. Additionally, they retrieve reports, statistics, and other relevant data from the Regional Justice Information System (REJIS) and input supplementary information, including details of stolen or damaged items. The employee also enters criminal dispositions and vehicle registration information into the REJIS for future reference in court and for the Department of Revenue.
Education Requirements
High School Diploma or GED
Skill in prioritizing daily activities and establishing effective task priorities to achieve maximum time effectiveness.
Ability to provide courteous and efficient service to the public. • Ability to type 55 WPM with no more than five errors.
Ability to consistently utilize time to be productive throughout shift, either completing “live” calls or supplemental tasks.
Ability to formulate solutions to situations using resource materials, manuals, bureau procedures and other approved information.
Ability to remain calm and accurate in performance of duties, even during stressful periods of high call volume.
